Kaspersky Security Scan’s main purpose is to give you peace of mind – to reassure you that your PC is safe and secure. This free tool will scan your PC and will do so in very little time. Once the scan completes, you will be presented with a report that tells you if there are any problems: if your PC is missing antivirus protection, if there’s any active malware on your PC, if there are any vulnerabilities that could be used to compromise your PC, and if there are any other security issues that need to be addressed.

To get Kaspersky Security Scan up and running on your PC, you will have to download an executable, run it, and then click through the instructions presented by a setup wizard. The system requirements for running the application on your PC vary based on which Windows edition you’re on. Suffice it to say that a modern PC will meet Kaspersky Security Scan’s requirements.

At the bottom of the interface you will find the following buttons:
Help – you will be presented with handy instructions on how to use the application.
About – a bit of info on the application's version.
Quick and Full Scan – click them to initiate a quick or a lengthier scan.
Reports – this button becomes functional only after launching a scan; it presents info on whatever problems the scan uncovers.
Schedule – schedule scans to be performed automatically.

Kaspersky Security Scan works like this: the first thing you have to do is launch a scan; as mentioned above, you can choose between a Quick and a Full Scan. Wait for the scan to complete, and you will be presented with a report of all the problems that plague your PC. Said problems are grouped into several categories: Computer protection, Malware, Vulnerabilities, and Other Issues. Click the Details button from the upper right hand side and you will be presented with a bit more info on the problems uncovered by Kaspersky Security Scan. Please note that the detailed report is in HTML format and it will be opened using your default web browser.

As mentioned above, Kaspersky Security Scan is a free application. You will not have to part with any of your money to use this application on your PC. And speaking about using the application, it must be mentioned that Kaspersky Security Scan has no problems running alongside other security products.

Find out if there are any security problems by quickly performing a scan with the free security solution Kaspersky Security Scan.

Pros

Installing Kaspersky Security Scan is an effortless task. The interface is quite simple. There are two scan types to choose from. You can view a detailed report of all the problems the scan uncovers. Kaspersky Security Scan can run alongside other security products. Kaspersky Security Scan is a free application.

Cons

It only uncovers security problems, it does not fix them. Did you know? At the start of 2013, Kaspersky Lab gathered data from 250,000 Kaspersky Security Scan users who already had an up-to-date security solution protecting their PCs. The company found out that there was active malware on 4 to 5.5% of the computers. So to put it in other words, Kaspersky Security Scan found active malware on PCs that were already protected by a security solution. Kaspersky Lab did not give any names, but it did say some of those solutions were from reputable vendors.
